Story Background: Your patron is a collector of unusual magic items. They pay well even for “cursed” items to study at the magic academy.  Other collectors have their own adventurers looking for lost loot. Your patron has tasked you with following up on rumors, investigating old ruins, and retrieving rare curiosities, especially the dangerous cursed or defective items that could harm its user. Travel across the continent of Faerûn and the planes to unearth these treasures for your patron and to grow your wealth and power.

About the DM: Your DM has over 40 years of experience across editions of D&D and OSR clones. Your DM is a Legend of the Realms supporter of Ed Greenwood and has regular video calls with the creator of the Forgotten Realms himself. You can be assured that your experience in the Forgotten Realms will be Canon based on feedback from Mr. Greenwood on our design concepts.

Extended Description

Characters: We will start at level 1. Documents and Spreadsheets will be our primary record store. Option by group vote: starting level 3.

Episodic: We use the Episodic format over Serial. The advantages are each episode is stand alone like many TV dramas. There may be an overarching plot that takes decades to fulfil, but an episode focuses on major plot points.

West Marches: West Marches is the format where each session is setup according to participant and DM availability as opposed to a recurring schedule (e.g. every Friday 8pm). This gives participants the flexibility to join Episodic adventures on their schedule. Can't make it every week? Show up when you can.

Archive: Each session is recorded and transcribed and available in a private stream. Miss one or more sessions? Easily catch up on what you missed. Do you hate taking notes during the session? Relax! Now you can use your "photographic memory" to recall all the details.

Imagination or Visual: If you do not like "D&D Chess" you may choose Theater of the Mind and your host will drive your character in Fantasy Grounds. If you prefer, be more hands on and visual with Fantasy Grounds VTT. Your host will be hands off. You drive!

Be A Boss: Build a stronghold, temple, or magic shop. Acquire henchmen and hirelings. Grow your wealth and power, but beware of other adventurers who see you like any other dungeon boss.

Music and Sound Effects: Immerse yourself in ambient sounds, music, and the thrill of battle. Syrinscape sound effects enhance the imagination.

Replay: Replays are the session expressed as a short story or novelette. If you are a fan of fiction of the Realms then this is your chance to hear the Bards of the land retell your stories.

Lore Research: Our wiki contains over 200 entries covering people and places in our corner of the Realms. Research for the campaign. Read about key NPCs and their history without subtracting from session time.

Maps: Theater of the Mind participants will appreciate our overland maps while those using Fantasy Grounds VTT will appreciate our scene based maps. We proudly use Campaign Cartographer 3+ with Mike Schley's token pack for our custom maps.

Planar Travel: Travel not only the world of Toril but visit other planes. The multiverse is truly endless.
